The “general contractor” analogy is apt when it comes to the diverse needs of a family facing a medical crisis. Patient advocates can offer guidance, information necessary to make knowledgeable decisions, resources and appropriate oversight that helps a family build a plan that spans the medical care, in-home or inpatient care, assistance with activities of daily living and preparation for what lies ahead.
In this webinar, Trish Laub will discuss why she believes the family must have a philosophy about their loved one’s condition, a goal and a strategy to meet that goal. She will also detail the organizational strategy that helped her family through the crisis. The desired outcome of this is to know that the patient’s wishes were respected and that the family can say that they did their absolute best for their loved one.
Program Objectives: Participants who attend this continuing education program will learn:
Learn what’s involved in the ”general contractor” role of the patient advocate.
